UAAI 2nd Seminar: Dr. Franz Fischler - Stockholm, Sweden.
The United Nations' summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda was held in New York during September 2015. The General Assembly convened an updated version of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be the framework for governments to proceed towards development with consideration of sustainability fundamentals.
The agenda was adopted by a majority of national governments including the EU nations and was labeled 'Transforming Our World'.
But what is the effect of such an agenda on the global and European Agri-Food industry? How would SDG2, 6 and 7 affect the food-water-energy nexus for feeding 9 billion people? How would SDG8, 11 and 12 have influence over our expanding cities and the city-food connections? And finally what is the role of urban agriculture as a means to fight climate change and to lower our footprint?
Dr. Franz Fischler, former Austrian European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development and current President of European forum Alpbach speaks in Stockholm on February 19, 2016.
